Hi, my name is Saule Petraityte. I’m a 5’7” opposite hitter and middle blocker originally from Vilnius, Lithuania. I moved to Puerto Rico when I was 4 years old, and my passion for volleyball began at the age of 12. I vividly remember my excitement during my first volleyball tryout. Although I had no prior experience, I was determined to work hard to match the skill level of my teammates.
When COVID-19 hit, I couldn’t practice with my team due to lockdowns, but that didn’t stop me. I dedicated myself to training on my own, practicing at home and at a nearby field. Serving overhand was one of my biggest challenges when I started, but through perseverance and countless hours of practice, I mastered it. Over the years, I have also refined my defense and offense, continuously striving to improve.
While I’ve spent most of my volleyball career as a middle blocker, this year my coach encouraged me to try a new position: opposite hitter. I instantly fell in love with it because it combines spiking with increased defensive responsibilities. Even though I’ve only played this position for a few months, I am committed to improving and hope to continue playing as an opposite hitter in college.
Beyond athletics, I take pride in my academic achievements. I currently maintain a 3.97 GPA and am an active member of G.E.T.S. (Girls Empowerment to Success), an organization that has helped me develop leadership skills both on and off the court. These experiences have shaped me as a player, teammate, and person.
My ultimate goal is to play collegiate volleyball while pursuing a degree in health sciences. I am excited to join a program that values both academic and athletic excellence. Thank you for considering me as a part of your team!
