Alia Sherrow '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a Christian athlete who has shown the continued capacity of hard work, determination and perseverance to supersede my athletic and academic goals while maintaining a heart for stewardship and teamwork. I am passionate about community involvement. I am involved in multiple school leadership roles such as, a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club, a board member for our Community Service Program, and a high school leader for our diversity group, Affinity.

I desire to play volleyball on a collegiate level. I am looking for an undergraduate school that has a volleyball team with athletic astuteness, diverse degree programs, and great student support.   I want to obtain dual majors in fashion merchandising/management and Mandarin linguistics.  

I have loved playing volleyball since the moment I stepped onto the court.  However, it was not something that came easy to me.  In a word, I was abysmal. However, my passion for the game drove my dedication, effort and time to transform my volleyball IQ and athleticism. The hardwork and lessons I have learned on the court continues into my academic and personal life.

Volleyball is a phenomenal sport because it hons your grit on and off the court and it reinforces the importance of community.  I understand what it takes to be a good teammate and leader: compassion, patience, and encouragement. I am excited to be part of a program that allows me to balance my academic goals as well as volleyball goals.
