One of the most exciting events that have happened to me during my high school career is when my team went to the sub-state tournament my freshman year. I did not play much when I was a freshman, but that was the first game I had ever played varsity in and I was so excited. We lost that game, but it taught me so much and made my love for volleyball even stronger. I started playing volleyball in my sixth-grade year because I wanted to be better than my sister. When I started playing, learned how to communicate with others, how every person plays, and that I could become something great. When I got to high school, I was not really sure if I wanted to play college because of how short I was, so I began to just focus on my academics. When my coach moved me to libero my junior year, I knew this was my chance. A lot of people told me that I would not be able to play libero in college because I was still too short. When volleyball came around my senior year, I knew that this was my last chance to prove to everyone that I could do it. When my season started, I was all over the place and did not let much hit the floor.
My high school team was not very successful this year, but we played hard. During my senior season, I learned that I had the leadership skills, work ethic, and the heart to play on a college volleyball team. I was always trying to cheer everyone on and teach my teammates something that could help them as well. No matter how many games we lost, I knew that we were all learning something and that I was ready for the next game. I hope that I will get the chance to bring my skills and encouragement with me to the next level.
