I am Madison Preston and am an outside hitter but I’ve had experience being a setter and a right side hitter. I am currently 5’5 and 14 years old. I first became interested in volleyball when I was about 8 years old when my parents signed me up for a recreational team called The Crushers. I played on that team for 4 years then realized I wanted to play more competitive volleyball. I then joined a club called Pure Athlete where I played for 2 years. During my first year of Pure Athlete the club was just beginning so there wasn’t any national teams yet, but in my second year with them they had a 14’s Sapphire team that was the national team as well as the highest team in the club. I currently play for a team called Elevate and am on the 15’s blue team which is a national team.
I have learned that I am an extremely competitive person and that I hate to lose. I also learned that 11 years old is quite late to start playing club volleyball but I have tried my hardest to get to where I am today.
This year is my freshman year and I go to Allen High School in Texas. Some of my goals for this year is to have A’s in all of my classes. One of my goals that I have already achieved for high school was to make the volleyball team and I made the Freshman team. My goals for college are to to the best I possibly can and to be passing all of my classes.
I feel like I have some good qualities that make me not only a good player but a good teammate as well. I am coachable, a good leader, and a good listener, but just like everyone, I have my not so good qualities. At times when I am not playing well I tend to get into my head but when i look to my teammates they know how to lift my spirits and I can focus and shake off my mistakes.
Outside of volleyball i enjoy playing and listening to music. I play the guitar and have been playing for about 4 years. Also at school i am in the sinfonia orchestra and play the cello. On the weekends i enjoy spending time with my friends and family, wether it’s hanging out at the mall or going to the lake.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope you consider giving me a chance to play volleyball for you!
