Dear Recruiters,
My name is Maggie Avila. I am in my senior year this fall of 2011. I have played volleyball since seventh grade. I aspire to play competitively through-out college. I am six-foot-two and weigh 150 pounds. I have a slender, strong, athletic build. I am a highly competitive. hard working, athletic team player. I always finish first when we run sprints and ladders. I practice every day whether it be with my team, coach, friends or by myself. I am dedicated to improving my game every day. Always, I am the first to practice to set up the net and I am the last to leave, playing until the custodian makes me take it down so he can clean the gym. For me, Volleyball isn't just a game. It is a lifestyle. You can learn so many things from volleyball besides how to play. I have a strong work ethic. I always show up with a grin on my face, ready to start. I never cut corners in education, practice, or my work. You can always count on me to play my best and cover my team. A key to my character is the word team. A team isn't just a random collaberation of people. It is a group of players that has aquired a strong sense of trust and belonging amongst each other. With a cohesive team you can attain victory. In the season of 2010/2011 i recieved the "Most Improved" award from my coach and team. She recognized the extra time i had been putting towards practicing and it showed positive results. I have played on our Varsity team for two and a half years and will be playing Varsity this upcoming season. I participated in club volleyball as well. I played Middle Blocker and Opposite Hitter for High Country Volleyball Club in Salt Lake City, Utah this past season. In the end we placed second in the Utah Power National Qualifiers and third in the Utah Elite Series. We barely lost the opportunity to go to Nationals in our last game, 25-27.
Over the summer I stay very fit. I run, do weights with my father and play beach. I attend volleyball camps as opportunities arise. I have dreamed about playing volleyball in college ever since I picked up the first ball. I will be extremely excited if I am offered the opportunity. I am open to any level of school, DI, DII, DIII, NAIA... I want to play as a freshman in a competitive gym. I want to make an impact on my team and help lead us to victory. I will be applying to FAFSA and other avaliable scholarships. I need some help getting through college.
Some other things I am interested in besides volleyball are art, skiing, hiking, riding horses, and camping. Just about anything outdoors pleases me. Growing up in Park City, Utah; I have had the outdoors avaliable at my back step. I would love to go somewhere where that is readily avaliable. I am interested in the Western region, but I am flexible. I don't mind the size of school. I love people and woild do well in a small school just as well as in a large school.
My love for people has sparked my goals in the medical field. I would like to pursue Nursing as my major with a minor in Art. If i don't end up majoring in Nursing, it will be something along the lines of medicine and working with people.
Thank You for taking the time to look at my profile!
