My name is Magdalena, I am 17 years old and I am Czech Republic citizen. This year I attend a private high school in Vermont called Lyndon Institute. I have always dreamed of studying in the US. I work hard for my goals I want to achieve in my life and this was not an exception. I was looking for boarding school which could provide me good education, and I was also looking for a school with volleyball team, because one of the big effects on how I live my life is definitely my passion for playing this sport. That is also why I would love to continue playing in college after I graduate. I am looking for a college where I can combine my excitement for this sport and with academics.
I have played volleyball since I was 10 years old. I remember that I fell in love with this sport as soon as I got the ball over the net. What thrills me about this sport so much is how much joy it brings to me while I am on and also off the court with my team. I like to push myself to play better and I am committed to constantly work on my improvement.
In Czech Republic I was a captain for 4 years on an amazing girl's team with an exceptional and friendly environment. Before I joined the new team as an outside hitter at the beginning of the school year I had been worried that it will take me awhile to integrate to a group of girls who had known each other for more than 4 years. But it took me only couple days and I became full-fledged team member. This sport gave me memories and put me through experiences I will remember for the rest of my life. I have always taken my team as a family. In order to be successful as a team, players need to know how to work with others and how to communicate. I think I am a positive person and I always try to help others when I see they are struggling and I try to cheer them up.
