I have been actively participating in competitive travel sports since I was 6 years old. I spent 12 years of my life as a Junior Olympic gymnast, training at age 3, and competing all over the country starting at age 6. I recently retired my gymnastics career due to a back injury, and I immediately found my love of volleyball. In addition to to gymnastics and volleyball, I have been extremely successful in multiple other sports. I was on the swim team, both club and our high school varsity swim team as a freshman. I ran cross country and track at the varsity level as a freshman. I recently started playing lacrosse for my high school and was asked to join the varsity team early in the season. I have also played recreational level soccer. Of all my sports experiences, my love of Volleyball is the greatest!
At age 15 I began training for my new sport. I feel a connection to volleyball which I didn't know was possible. So, I attended camps, played on my high school JV team, and made a travel team all in my first year of volleyball. After attending camp at JMU this summer I received the most improved player award. During team camp at Liberty University I was chosen to participate in the camp Allstar team. Most recently I attended tryouts for a 17's national level travel team, and was offered a position playing as a middle blocker, and right side hitter. I am very excited about the opportunity to learn more and continue to improve my volleyball skills. I work very hard in all that I do, and I am a fast learner always looking for opportunities to grow.
I thrive when I'm busy, so I make it a point to always participate in a sport, a school club, or volunteer. As an 8th grader I applied to specialty center schools because I have an interest in becoming a doctor. After writing an essay, collecting teacher recommendations, and having an interview, I was accepted into both programs I applied for. I chose to attend Monacan high school for their health professions governor's school (HPT). The HPT program is comprised of all advanced level courses, including honors, AP and college level options. The courses are specific to obtaining training in the medical field. I work very hard to maintain all A honor roll in this rigorous program despite my busy schedule outside of school. Currently I'm ranked 22 in my class of 345 students and I carry a GPA of 4.53.
The thought of being part of a college volleyball team is very exciting to me; however, I am also excited to be a big part of a college, academically. I am organized, responsible, motivated and kind. I look forward to the opportunity to meet college coaches and follow my dreams.
