Olivia Biggs '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Olivia Biggs and I am a student-athlete at James Wood High School in Winchester, VA.  As I finish up my Senior year at high school, I have been working hard to push myself in the classroom and on the court.  I'm excited to be a part of the launching of our National Arts Honors Society last year and am enjoying serving as President.  I hope to lay a solid foundation for the Society to build and improve on for many years after my graduation.  I find art to be a great stress reliever!  I am again serving as the Social Media Coordinator for our Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club which holds monthly meetings with speakers from the health care professions as well as working within the community lending a helping hand where we can.

I believe my hard work in the classroom, my community, and on the court will help shape me into a strong, intelligent and well-rounded person.  While I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with the rest of my life, I do know that it includes a great secondary education, hopefully playing the sport I have so much fun playing.  My parents, sister and grandparents are very encouraging and supportive and have instilled in me the importance of a good education and hard work.

I started sports around 10 years old, playing recreational basketball exclusively for a few years until I also starting playing volleyball in the 8th grade, as well as track & field and cross country.  Volleyball quickly became my favorite and my sister, who also plays and has been a great mentor, encouraged me to start playing travel volleyball after my Freshman year on the Junior Varsity team in high school.  I have been playing almost year round ever since and hope to continue playing throughout college.  I have made some great friends on my teams and have shared in some great, and some not so great, experiences. 

In my down time, I like to watch movies, be outdoors and draw, paint or write.  Traveling is a family passion and we enjoy hiking and kayaking together.  I appreciate your time in reading this and hope to meet in person soon!
