Being the baby of four, I have always tried to blaze my own path, especially in the area of trying sports that my siblings did not do. Since my family is loaded with basketball, football and track athletes, I jumped towards volleyball in the 8th grade after four years of competitive cheer. Volleyball quickly became one of my favorite things to do and I desire to keep developing and to make a major impact at the collegiate level.
Volleyball has challenged my “perfectionist” attitude in that I do not have time in the game to beat up on myself when mistakes happen. The exciting pace of the game requires me to mentally stay in the game and to keep executing my arm swings, footwork and blocking skills. I have learned to take a quick snapshot on what I need to work on during the game and then master that fundamental at practice. My goal is to be always a stronger, wiser, and encouraging teammate every time I touch the volleyball court.
As tenacious as I am on the volleyball court, I am also in the classroom and community. I maintain a 3.7 GPA, take several challenging AP courses and was inducted into the National Honor Society and TOP Teens of America National Service Leadership Organization. I have volunteered for the past three summers at Dumfries Library and coaching middle school volleyball players at the Boys and Girls Club and my high school.
