I fell in love with the game when I was in middle school and I continue to find more reasons why volleyball is such a great sport. Over the years of playing I continue to grow as an athlete, teammate and especially a student. Being able to have the opportunity of playing on Varsity the past two years, and soon to be third year, I have not only learned how to play in a level that permits high stress and high reward, but also just the importance of being physically active and having fun on the court. The past two years I have also had the opportunity of playing in club volleyball, which made me a more consistent volleyball player and I learned more skills on how to be strategic in all aspects of the game. I am also always striving to improve, which is why I push myself to make the most of every practice, so I encourage my team and myself to treat every practice as if it were a game.
My academics and extra curricular activities really set me apart from the rest of the recruits because I have a 3.99 GPA in high school, while going to college as a running start student and earning a 3.7 GPA. All of this is done, while I work a minimum of 13 hours a week, practice twice a week, and soon I'll be volunteering at a local animal shelter for a minimum of 2 hours per week. On top of that I devote the majority of my time to homework and studying for the four college courses I'm currently taking. Even after a long day at school and work, I never lose interest in volleyball, which allows me to explore new ways to improve my ability on the court.
My overarching goal for college is to earn a Masters degree in Mathematics and to then be certified to become a Math teacher for either secondary or higher education. My teachers say that I would make a great teacher because I am responsible, self-motivated, organized, caring, helpful, patient and encouraging person. My coach has told me before that all of these characteristics make for a great player and teammate on the court. I have been lucky enough to be selected for a coaches award for my high school team, where my coach had told me that I never let her down in a time of need and over the season and off-season I would always be focused on upcoming volleyball dates. I know that I have the athletic and academic ability and stamina to play at the college level and I will be a huge asset to your volleyball program! Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile!
