I became interested in volleyball after watching a family friend who was 5 years older than me play. When I was 10 years old, I tried out for my first club team and made their 12U regional team. I have playing on national club teams ever since and have gone to nationals twice. Having started on my Junior Varsity high school team for the past 2 years, I made a commitment to challenge myself this club season in hopes of making Varsity next school year. I tried out for an 18U club team and made it as a 15-year-old with a starting DS position. In my 6 years of playing volleyball, I have come across a variety of teammates with extremely diverse personalities. I am not an emotionally sensitive person and I have found that this personal characteristic has helped me become a better teammate and more coachable athlete. My goals for high school include taking a variety of Advanced Placement classes (particularly in the math and sciences) in order to pursue a career in the medical field or forensic science. Last spring, as a freshman, I made the Varsity tennis team at my High School. I’ve realized that the skills I have gained from playing on a volleyball court have helped me on the tennis court as well. Playing more than one sport has taught me to prioritize my time in the area of academics and athletics.
