My name is Courtney Peschong from Greenfield, Wisconsin and I am aspiring to play as an Outside Hitter, Defensive Specialist or even Libero in college. Growing up I was always a very shy kid who hid from people because I was scared of judgment. Due to underlying health problems I was a bit heavier growing up and I was constantly bullied. Despite my personality and physical appearance I was always an athletic entergentic kids. Constantly playing outside with my neighbors and competitcly playing basketball since I was in second grade. When I started playing volleyball I fell in love with the game and knew I wanted o play as long as I possibly could. I became confident and took on a leadership role. I love seeing my team mates succeed and feel comfortable more than I do, as long as others are happy and having fun so am i. Volleyball really helped me come out of. y shell and become who I am today, a leader who loves learning. A side note I would like to put out there is I am currently pushing myself to lose 40 pound by summer so I can be the best athlete possible.
I began to play volleyball when I was only 11 years old. When I first started playing I was always taller then everyone and excelled in my first 3 years of club volleyball. But sooner or later I had to come to terms that I was no longer growing when everyone else was growing in height. This reality check allowed me to become a different type of player that I believe is very hard to come by. My style of volleyball is very strategy based. Despite shorter height, I also weigh more then your average girl. I have learned to see the court very well when I am playing in the front row, my ball placement is what excellent in, even if I am not slamming the ball inside the 10 foot line. My at the net attacking is quite a different style but it can be very beneficial because I am able to observe the open spots on the other side of the court and put the ball there. When it comes to defense I excelled in reading the other sides offensive, I am able to read where they are going and be there. I love the feeling of playing defense almost more than offense, it is so thrilling and you never know what could be sent your way.
I played one season at Marian University in Fon Du Lac, WI. My major was nursing, but had to take a step down from school.
If any coach is reading this, I would just like you to know I am a player who loves learning new things. I am very adaptable to my situations and making the best of them. I am truly a team player who loves to see everyone else succeed before I do. I am always trying to bring the best out myself as well as my other teammates. I am willing to go the extra mile to become the best version of myself as a human and an athlete. I'd hope you can see that, and means something to you.
