I am an honor roll student, have a very strong work ethic and a drive to always improve. I am very academically focused and have a particular interest in math and science. I am still exploring options, but am leaning towards science/math/ engineering at this point.
My first foray into high level training was in dance. I trained and danced with the Professional School of Alberta Ballet for 10 years from the age of 4 to 14. It taught me focus, discipline and time management.
I started swimming as cross training for dance. I really excelled in swimming. I was recruited to join water polo from my swim team about 5 years ago, and I fell in love. So much so, that at 14 when I needed to choose between dance and water polo, because of competing training requirements, it was an easy decision. Since then, I have taken every opportunity to play and learn all that I can. I played internationally with Team Alberta in New Zealand in 2018, and have played and trained in California with my Canadian club team, as well as club teams Santa Barbara Premier and Alliance for the last four years. I will also be training with a club team in Budapest, Hungary in the spring of 2020.
In addition to water polo, I am a competitive swimmer. I am the current summer provincial champion in both the 50m and 100m freestyle (24.95 SCY; 53.96 SCY respectively). I also play on my high school varsity volleyball and swimming teams.
I am a team player and have been recognized for my coachability. Family and friends (and my dog Charly) are very important to me. I have a strong support system which keeps me grounded and has provided me the encouragement to push for my goals. I want to attend a college that has both strong academics and strong athletics and rewards hard work!
