Personal Statement

I started playing water polo when I was ten years old. I didn't even know how to swim yet, but I was inspired. Since then, I have been playing water polo all year for six years. Over the past six years of playing, I have grown as a swimmer and as a player. I specialize in center defense but have experience in all positions including goalie. My main goal in water polo is to support my team. I have great leadership skills, a friendly personality, and great communicative skills. I am an extremely coachable player and strive to get better every time I get into the pool. I also coach water polo to kids ages five to fourteen through American River Water Polo Club. I have dedicated a lot of time to water polo and wish to continue my passion to a collegiate level.

I am involved in other sports and activities as well such as: swim team, wrestling, and performing arts. I volunteer for senior citizens, coaching youth water polo, and at the public library to give back to my community. I am a HOBY alumni. HOBY is a leadership seminar program; I was picked from my sophomore class to represent my high school and learn about what it takes to be a good leader and how to further help my community. In the future I would like to teach performing arts and English, while also coaching a high school water polo team.
