2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Sydney Gish and I am a right-handed attacker that has been playing water polo since I was 9 years old. I have been in the pool since starting in swim club at age six. My goals are to play water polo at a highly competitive college level and to complete a degree in Elementary Special Education. I am a 2-time JO All-American as well as a NISCA High School All-American. My greatest experience to date was to represent the USA Cadet Futures Team in Barcelona in 2019.
My strengths are my high water polo IQ and coachability. This allows me to integrate in to almost any style of play and connect well with my teammates. My style in the pool would best be defined as an ability to effectively score and assist on offense while having the skillset to defend at a high level at any position. I am excited about this next step to college athletics and look forward to finding a program and school where I can excel in and out of the pool.
