I am Leah Resendez, a 17 year old Junior who attends Madera High school (North Campus). I have been in the pool my whole life, whether it’s playing waterpolo or swimming. I was on a club team for swim for about 6 years, and did a little bit of club for waterpolo this past summer. In my high school career I have lettered in Varsity Swim my Freshman year and Varsity Waterpolo my Sophomore year. I have always been a swimmer, my strokes are Free and Back and I am either a short or long distance swimmer but, once I found my love for waterpolo I have been driven to it more and more. I started playing polo when I was in 6th grade, I was a utility player from 7th-8th grade but became a goalie from 9th-current grade. I am very verbally effective in the cage, I direct the team where they should and shouldn’t be. Once I commit to something I stay committed so I would say I am dependable and responsible. I am a very flexible and coach able athlete, I want to better myself and most importantly be better for my teammates and coaches, in and out do the pool. My current goal right now for myself it to study in Kinesiology and get a Doctorate degree to become and Athletic Trainer. I have always been connected to sports and cannot see myself without them so being able to help athletes become stronger and better is a dream of mine. I have always been very serious about my studies, throughout my high school career and even before I have always maintained my grades and sports very well, I manage to maintain a GPA of 3.8-4.2 while also going to games, practices, extra training and tournaments. I always strive to better my education, I take higher end classes such as AP, Honors and Dual Enrollment to stay ahead and get a jump start on college education. I do sports, maintain great grades and also I help the community on a weekly basis whether it’s for the school, for church, or for the Madera Community as a whole. I have always been so involved in volunteering for community events, elderly homes, church activities, and school activities. I do these volunteering events to connect with the people of my community to make an impact on others. I have always been driven to make a diffeence in the community and as a teammate whether it be, having a great attitude or having new ideas.
