Dear Prospective Coach, my name is Charlee Wickemeyer and I will be graduating in 2020 from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach California. Growing up in a beach town, I have always been passionate about swimming, water sports and our great Pacific Ocean. Very young I earned my training wheels as a Junior Lifeguard then moved on to club swimming and ultimately ended up loving & playing club water polo; a sport that I have played competitively since middle school. In my first Junior Olympics I was able to meet the Olympic legend Brenda Villa, she became a great influence on me, I always try to inspire to her level as a player when ever I am competing. I am proud to say recently my club team took first place in this years Junior Olympics and the following week placed first in the Hawaiian Innovational tournament. It was a great feeling as a leader on these teams to help mentally motivate others as well as accomplish my personal goals.
As a high school scholar athlete, I try to maintain a well rounded approach to my life, I speak French, started an Animal Shelter Club at my school, founded a non-profit “Shelter the Pets”, currently working on my Girl Scout Gold Award, a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, and help with inner city children to create art.
Playing water polo in college would be a great opportunity for me, I am extremely dedicated to everything I set my mind to. I promise to always give 100% effort and perform to the best of my ability. looking forward to the opportunity to discuss what your college has to offer both in water polo and academically.
