I started swimming when I was just 4 years old, and by the time I turned 5, I was already part of my first swim team. It didn't take long before I found myself competing in County Championships across various age groups. When I hit 13, I decided to take on a year-round swim team to keep pushing my limits and chase bigger goals. Then, everything changed when COVID hit.
During those tough times, I realized that what I loved most about swimming was the camaraderie and the friendships I had built in the recreational league. Dealing with health concerns and social challenges, swimming lost its spark for me. Fortunately, Water Polo came into my life. Being part of a team, working towards a common goal, it reignited my passion for being in the pool. Looking back, I think my years in the swim team were preparing me for this.
As a high school freshman, I joined the JV Water Polo team and earned a spot as a starter. The same season, I moved up to the Varsity team. I fell in love with the intensity and focus of the game, and it brings me genuine happiness. Representing my school fills me with pride, and now, as a senior, I have the honor of being the team captain.
I keep myself in top shape even outside the Water Polo season. I've joined the high school swim team and the summer swim rec team, and I have also attended Water Polo clinics through local clubs and, recently, Cal Berkeley; however, I have not played for a Club. I have been the top scorer for my high school the last two years, and I am First Team All League for the third year in a row along side girls who have been playing club for years, and have already committed to play Water Polo in College, which I consider a true honor and achievement.
As I think about my future, I'm eagerly searching for a college where I can pour my heart into everything I do, whether it's in the pool or in the classroom. I can't wait for the opportunity to continue my passion for the game while also representing my college with immense pride.
