Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Christina Reyes and I am aspiring to be a collegiate water polo player, preferably at a Division 1 University. I enjoy every aspect of the game and the team atmosphere it provides. The concept of Team is an amazing thing to me.  Water polo has given me the confidence, experience, and "know how"  to truly work well with people.  It has also driven me to be the very best person I can be both in and out of the water by exposing me to many types of people, situations, and experiences.

Water polo has become a way of life for me since I was 11.   I have proudly participated in all aspects of water polo from club to high school to the national level that USA Water Polo provides. Being involved in the USA Water Polo's Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the past several years has really given me the opportunity to train and compete at a very high level. I have learned and grown so much as an athlete and a person.  The past three years in the program I have been selected to train and compete at the National Training and Selection Camp in hopes of being selected for a spot on a USA Water Polo National Team.  Last year on May 26, 2014,  my hard work and dedication paid off and I was selected for a Center position on the 2014 USA Water Polo's Girls Cadet National Team. And this past ODP season I was yet again selected as a Center for the 2015 Womans Cadet National Team. Next ODP season I will be fighting for the title of 2016 Womans Youth Team.

My dreams of going to college don't just lie with water polo, I am also a serious student who hopes one day to obtain a career in the medical field. I find much interest in the human body and how it works. I would like to major in the sciences with the ultimate goal of going to medical school to be an orthopedic surgeron specializing in sports related medicine.

I can't begin to tell you in words how much I love the game of water polo and how much I would love an opportunity to play at your university.  I look forward to the next time I can fight for position at the 2 meter.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
