I became interested in water polo when my two older brothers were playing and always telling me how much fun they were having. Then I started playing when I was 7 years old and I have had many influences along the way. A big influence in my water polo career was my 14U coach Patrick Reynolds. He taught me to give every game, practice, and anything to do with water polo my all, 100% of the time. He showed me you have to work for what you want and life will challenge you along the way. Water polo has taught me time management, leadership, and teamwork. I love the sport I play and am very thankful for everything it has shown me in life. I am a very selfless person and always strive to give anything my all. Over the years, I have gained more confidence when playing water polo. I grew a lot as a player when I went from mostly sitting the bench during pre season games, to being the starting set guard for the entirety of my 2020 season. I was forced to become a huge part of the team and had to contribute my all during each and every game. I dealt with a lot of pressure from my coach and teammates, and that made me mentally stronger. I learned how to push through difficult situations and to communicate with my teammates effectively. Even though my 2020 season did not go as planned, I grew immensely as a person and player.
My academic goals for high school are to always have above a 3.6 GPA and to continue to improve my ACT and SAT scores. Sophomore year was a very tough year for me academically and overall, but this year has been great academically and sport wise. I love learning about math, science, and psychology, and want to continue to learn about one of those topics in college. I wish to continue to play the sport I love in college, and to continue to grow in every way.
