Hello my name is Lexie Macias and I have been playing water polo for about two years now, but I absolutely love this sport. I put forth all my time, effort, and dedication into improving and becoming the best player I can be. Even though I'm still pretty new to water polo, I have come a long way in a very short amount of time and I want to reach my full potential. My coach has refered to me as, "a player who in the end, gets the job done." I have been told that I am a strong defender, can make plays happen, am a team player, take instructions well, am a coachable player and a hard worker. I suppose I am all those things, but all I know is that when it's time to play, my head is in the game and I get the job done. I would describe myself as warm and bubbly outside of the pool. But please do not mistake my kindness because in the pool I am far from being nice. I always give my all in everything I do in life and have FUN doing it.
I am a student-athlete and maintaining my grades is a top priority for me because education is just as important to me as water polo is. In college I would like to have the opportunity to play the sport I love, and earn a degree to work with something I am passionate about, the ocean. My long term goal consists of earning a double major in marine biology and environmental science. I have always enjoyed spending time at the beach and now that the ocean and its inhabitants are in danger, I feel the urge to help protect it and undo the damage humanity has brought on it. This is what I was meant to do, I was meant to protect the ocean as my life long calling.
My parents have sacrifed very much for my success. I know with the work ethic and mind set I have been instilled with, I can be successful in water polo, school and life. My family is the reason why I strive to be the best student-athlete I can be because, they are my biggest supporters and want me to succeed. I want to make them proud and show that all the time and dedication they put into my career has all been worth it, and will help me succeed in the future.
