Personal Statement
Hi I’m Jodie, I’m an international student from the UK looking to study and train in America. I am applying for 2025 entry, after a gap year where I hope to play abroad in Europe.
I’m a versatile player, I mostly play position 4/5, but I step in to other positions when it is necessary for the team. I enjoy being a team player and creating opportunities for the team to score, by driving and creating movement to allow a free player to get the ball or set up second centre. I am enthusiastic to learn more, and would love the opportunity to play a higher standard of waterpolo in the USA. I want to improve my skills and learn from new coaches and teams to gain knowledge of a wide variety of game styles and tactics, and apply them in high intensity games and training.
I have represented the South West region of England from U14 tournaments to U18, working with people from different clubs helped me to adapt my playing style appropriately to help us win matches. I then went on to join the Welsh senior women’s squad when I was 15, competing at home nations in May 2022 when I was 16, and going on to play in EU nations in December 2022 at 17.
At school I always work hard, and try to maintain an even balance between training and schoolwork, I have learnt to manage my time well to ensure homework is completed on time and to a good quality. I enjoy taking part in academic competitions, such as chemistry or maths challenges, I have oboe lessons once a week to continue developing my skills and I spend my spare time during school in the design and technology block learning new skills such as wood turning.
Thankyou for taking the time to read my statement.
