Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have been most comfortable when in the pool. Even at my first swimming lesson, I was so eager to jump into the pool that I did so with no help from my swimming coach. Although I struggled initially because of my petite physique, I was never scared to be in the water. I was drawn to Water Polo because it offers diverse opportunities, is dynamic and demands continual outbursts of energy. When asked by my peers to describe me as a player, they said "tenacious". I draw my energy and inspiration from being part of a team: every victory is celebrated as a team success. Each loss is something I use as personal motivation to improve my game. I have always been fascinated by sport: it gives me focus and a sense of purpose. I am competitive; I am always striving for a win but I do know when a victory is deserved and I am self-critical and goal directed. In general, sport is a part of my character and I have always participated in as many sports as my school offers.
My school is extremely driven, always expecting the best. I have been at the same school for 15 years and I am looking forward to being part of a new environment. I know I am ready to advance to the challenges of a higher level of both academics and sport.
