Personal Statement

I consider myself an excellent candidate for a top Div 1 University team based on my dedication to the sport, concentrated skills in the center-forward position, and commitment to the team. No matter how busy life is, no matter how late or early the trainings are, I will always be there with no complaints, simply because I love the sport.

I have been given focused coaching in the potion of centre-forward by a past Olympian for a large portion of my water polo career. Though I am very capable of playing all positions when needed, I love being centre-forward because this position gives me great opportunity to use my strengths, such as turning my defender, earning penalties, scoring goals and redistributing the ball to my team. Lastly, my passion for team sports is what drives my commitment to any team I am placed on. I have played on a number of various sports teams and I strongly believe that my experiences from participating in team sports are valuable life lessons. I look forward to a college experience that includes working closely and bonding with a team, as I consider this an essential part of my life.

My family moved from New York to New Zealand about a decade ago, and for as long as I can remember it has always been my dream to attend college in the US. Since then, I have also been lucky enough to discover my passion for the incredible sport of water polo. A chance to combine these two dreams of mine would be the ultimate goal.

My aspirations for attending college in the US are to gain a great education, experience life amongst a variety of cultures and play the sport I love at a top level. I am a hardworking, highly motivated individual with an excellent work ethic. I have continually managed to balance a high-performance training schedule and a top academic workload. Additionally, I have been a volunteer coach at my old primary school for the past four years - I believe it is important to give back to the community and to share my skills and experiences.

I believe that attending college in the US will allow me to broaden my global knowledge and awareness, to create an environment where I can grow as a person and to develop key skills that I will use in my future life.
