I began playing water polo my freshman year of high school. I put in a lot of work in my first season but I wasn't at the level I wanted to be. I was determined to get better so I signed up to play for a club team in order to improve my skills and get a different style of coaching. Coach Splitt was very encouraging and pushed me to play in a lot more tournaments. He taught me that when you have a rough game, you have to pick yourself up and work ten times harder at practice. I was able to improve my skills through the help of my coach and the girls on the team. All the hard work paid off because I made varsity the following year!
Through water polo, I have made a lot of friends and improved my confidence and attitude. In college, I’m looking for a place to challenge me academically in school and physically in water polo. I’m also looking for a college where there is an equal balance on academics and sports. Education and spanish are the areas I want to study in college. I hope to get my teaching license after college.
