I wasn't ever going to be a wrestler, or at least for more than one year of middle school, but now I find myself going into my fifth year of this sport, and working to continue at the college level. Growing up in a small island town has had many setbacks for me as an athlete, but I am grateful to be able to continue to grow my repertoire with club teams out of town. My name is Hayley Gilson, and I am currently a senior (C/O '22) at Ketchikan High School in Ketchikan, Alaska. I am very passionate about wrestling, and sport in general. Growing up I participated in soccer, softball, basketball, swimming, cross country, volleyball, and whatever other activities my parents could get me in. Now I am a tri-sport athlete, continuing softball and basketball, and of course adding wrestling. Balancing my school and athletics has never been a problem for me. I am good at managing my time and working on skills on my own. Ever since I set my mind to this sport both my attitude and abilities have increased, making me a positive role model towards my peers and community.
