My name is Lorelei Hartman and I am a junior at Corona High School in Corona, California. I began wrestling with the Lady Panthers Wrestling and Coach Bowers when I was twelve years old. I learned the skills and gained the confidence in my own abilities young, so that when I began wrestling competitively my sophomore year, I quickly saw success and became an integral part of the varsity wrestling team. My record that year was a respectable 37-12, winning the award for most pins on my team and received an honorable mention in the Southern Section of the California State Women’s Wrestling 2023 rankings.
In addition to wrestling, I have carried a full schedule of honors and AP classes, maintaining a 4.1 GPA, and having been on Corona High School’s Honor Roll every semester. In addition, I have seen success in National History Day, Science Fair, Academic Decathlon, and Corona High’s Swim Team. This year I have dropped swimming in order to focus my full attention on wrestling. Also, once the season is over, I will continue honing my skills with the Threshold Wrestling Club, receiving additional training, strength building, and mat time. I hope to earn a scholarship to a university where I can wrestle and study either Library Sciences, Security and Intelligence, or psychology.
This season I came out of the gates fast with a 4th place finish at Freakshow in Las Vegas. I have gone on to take 1st, 2nd or 3rd in every tournament since; except for Queen of the Hill where I placed 4th. In addition, I was awarded MVP at the Redlands Ladycat Tournament. My record so far this year is 35-8 and I look forward to the postseason that starts this weekend with CIF Duals. I am currently ranked 6th in the Southern Section of California. Though I wrestle as a HVY weight, I only weigh 215. I plan to drop to 190 for my college wrestling career.
Due to my stature, red hair, and success on the mat, I am often referred to as “Big Red”, making me quite identifiable at tournaments. I hope that if you were to visit a tournament at which I was wrestling that you would find me and introduce yourself. I would love to know more about college wrestling programs and opportunities I might have following high school.
Thank you.
