Hello, my name is Lita Chowning. I am 18 years old and currently a Senior at Jay County Jr/Sr High School in Portland, Indiana. I plan on attending college to study Criminal Justice. I would love to follow in my father's footsteps and enter into Law Enforcement. I am currently serving in the Indiana Army Nation Guard. I started wrestling because I wanted to try something new and different. My dad and brother both wrestled and I thought it would be fun. It wasn't easy for me, but I decided that I was going to let the boys bully me into quitting. I love wrestling to much to let that happen. Now, we are one big family! I feel like I have gained more self confidence and become stronger, not only physically but mentally. Wrestling will help me succeed in my careers, as I enter into the Army and Law Enforcement, it will give me a different prospective on things like self-defense and physical tactics. I am currently the only girl to become a 4 time State placer. I was voted the Most Valuable Girl Wrestler in 2018-2019 and 2020-2021 and have been the girls Team Captain for the past 3 years. I want to be a role model for young women, not only in my community but everywhere. Women's wrestling is a fast growing sport and I am happy to be helping to pave the way.
