I have been wrestling for around 10 years and in the past 4 years, I have been through a couple of setbacks. At the beginning of my 8th-grade year, I partially tore the labrum on my left shoulder. I placed 1st at state later that season. Before Fargo, I broke my leg at a wrestling camp. The next season I placed 3rd at state. At Iowa girl’s state my freshman year of high school I was injured. By the time I got a doctor’s appointment covid had hit Iowa hard. They were closing down any non-lifesaving surgeries. I got x-rays and an MRI. I was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and a fully torn labrum. The surgery I had consisted of cutting my pelvis in 3 spots and holding it together with 4 screws. In the average time, it took for a person to walk I was wrestling again. I had my surgery on October 9th, 2020. On October 9, 2021, I was wrestling at conflict for charity and I placed 2nd after only losing a match by 1 point. The next day I wrestled as a part of Iowa’s Potentially Dangerous. We were the first Iowa team to win that dual tournament. I always set high but reasonable goals and sometimes I don't always reach them but that makes me push myself harder.
