My sophomore year was the first time I tried wrestling. I had thought about it since middle school but it wasn't until 2020 that I decided to actually try it. My brother wrestled so I already understood the sport, having been dragged to his matches since I was young I was unsure if it would be a good fit for me. However the more practices I went to the more I enjoyed it and soon I fell completely in love with this sport. My name is Katie Palmer and I attended Marysville High School. I'm a multi-sport athlete and this past year I wrestled for the girls program at Marysville. I love the competition that wrestling provides, watching my hard work and that of the girls around me pay off pushes me to keep going. I'm very grateful to be surrounded by a team of supportive girls as I recognize that not every school has a girls program. I'm lucky to have great coaches who are dedicated to both the girls and boys programs. I want to help the sport grow and I take every opportunity to talk to girls who are interested in trying it. As for academics, I work hard to maintain good grades. I'm a part of DECA and am currently taking several business oriented classes. I plan to major in business or physical therapy in college.
