With taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 7 years, I thought wrestling would be similar, so I joined my 8th grade year in middle school and loved it. I attempted to join my freshmen year, but coach recommended I try to find another girl to join with me to make training easier. I waited to start until my Sophomore year when another girl transferred from another high school. I have been wrestling for the past 3 years at the high school level.
Wrestling has taught me how to adapt quickly to various situations and am constantly learning from my mistakes, coaches and my teammates to improve my techniques. As an excellent self-starter, I have the motivation to continue my training outside of our team practices to increase the strength and stamina required for long matches. Outlasting my opponents is definitely a quality I hold in high regard. This year I am back to being the only girl on our team and am hopeful to be the first girl from our school to make State. My goal for college is to get a Bachelor's degree in Business, while still enjoying a sport I love.
