I have spent the past 9 years competing against males, the first 8 being defeated time and time again. My junior year I realized that there might never be women's wrestling in wyoming and decided to finally try and start to win against the boys. I ended my junior year with a winning record against the high school varsity boys. With that I was able to make it to state to compete against them. My senior year they created a women's division in wrestling and I was able to get first in all but one of one tournaments. After 10 years of wrestling I won state. It took a lot of determination, and a lot of extra time in the weight room and on the mats.
There is one more thing to add about how Wyoming's first year of women's wrestling went. Because there was such a low number of girls, we didn't have any classifications of the different types of school. During state it was every women that weighed 120 pounds then the top 16 girls were able to compete. Same way with the other weight brackets. So i didn't just win state in the 3A schools, i won state against the top 16, 120 pounder women in wyoming.
