In 2012 I was adopted and moved from Ethiopia to the United States of American. I didn't know a single word of English. My Mom and Dad taught me so much in a short period of time. I fell in love with all sports, soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, bike riding. I didn't have the opportunity in Ethiopia to participate in all those sports. I especially fell in love with American Football. My Dad is a huge Alabama Football fan and he would go crazy watching the games and I soon fell in love with a sport I knew nothing about. Now I know more than him about the players. I played football for the first time my 8th grade year and never made it off the sidelines. I realized the game I love was probably not in my future so I made it my "hobby". Someone at my middle school said something about wrestling starting at the high school, so since I liked to box a little bit, I thought I would try it. My Mom drove me to the high school and I wouldn't get out of the car because I was so so scared, but she said, "I'm not leaving this parking lot until you get out of this car and go inside that gym" It was me against Mom and she won. I finally got out of the car and went in and the rest is history. I fell in love with wrestling and don't know what my life would be like without it. There are no excuses its just one on one, you verses your opponent. I am super excited for my opportunities in college and know that I have what it takes to work hard and compete at the next level. I'm looking forward to meeting and talking with coaches over the next couple of years. From Ethiopia to Delaware to Alabama has been an incredible journey. God has been with us all along the way. It's truly a miracle and I am excited about the future.
