I started my wrestling career when I was in sixth grade because I wanted to participate in school athletics and wrestling was the most similar to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), a sport I was already actively participating in. I practiced BJJ for three years before I started wrestling for my middle school. During my second year of BJJ, I started helping my coach teach the younger students, 4-6 year olds. This is one of the reasons as to why I am an asset to my team. I love to help out my teammates and I enjoy watching them grow and prosper.
My wrestling goals for the next few years of high school include continuing to wrestle on the varsity team and to place at\win the state tournament. I also have the goal to make it to the top of some of the school leader boards, for example most wins and most pins. My academic goals are to achieve a 3.75 grade point average and to be especially proficient in classes such as engineering, science, and math.
My high school wrestling accomplishments for my freshman year include making the varsity team and ending the season with a 29-14 record, 23 of those wins being falls. I was also a qualifier for the Arizona state tournament. Although my sophomore year was also a COVID-19 year with a modified wrestling season, I managed to place 5th at the Arizona state tournament and had an overall record of 15-5. I wrapped up my junior year with a 3rd place finish at the Arizona state tournament and a season record of 32-10. As of my junior year, my career falls are 56.
