My name is Austin Totty and let me take you back fifteen years. One event that made me who I am today is being born premature and entering this world breathing on my own at two pounds five ounces. I think this formed my resolve to always strive to fight and preserve through adversity. Ever since I was young, I was always wrestling around with my dad who himself was a high school wrestler. When we found Sheriff Activities League (SAL), I joined at age eight and have been wrestling ever since. I have learned many things about myself through the sport of wrestling. I have learned hard work and dedication does pay off. I also learned that the mental side is just as or more important than the physical side.
My academic goals for high school are to achieve high grades (3.5 or above) and to grow as a person and as a wrestler. I am currently recovering from MPLF (knee) surgery. I am working through the pain during physical therapy to come back better than ever next year. My doctors anticipate a full recovery and I will be ready to go for next season. I am very self-motivated to achieve to the best of my ability whether it is in the classroom or on the mat. I am also very hard on myself and want to succeed even when the odds are against me.
