My name is Syrus Singh and I am 15 years old, and will be entering my Junior year of high-school next year. My long-term aspirations are to have a career in either Orthopedic medicine or sports Physical Therapy (either M.D. or a DPT). I am currently holding a 4.8 GPA and hope to get it up to 5.0 so I can graduate Valedictorian of my class.
My hobbies include Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, weight training, surfing, reading books (history, antiquity and self-improvement) and building my business as the founder and CEO of Nerd Assassins which is a lifestyle apparel brand giving a platform to scholar-warriors who embrace academics and martial arts.
I ascribe to the ethos of Stoicism and follow the motto of "The only easy day was yesterday". I make it a goal to push myself in every aspect of my life because being comfortable is a slow death. If I am not constantly challenging myself in academics, sports and self-discipline, I feel I am stagnating and that never sits well with me.
Wrestling has truly been a catalyst in my life and has allowed me to dig very very deep in times of uncertainty and self doubt. Wrestling has taught me to embrace grit, fortitude and perseverance and most importantly, has taught me that hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard. I train longer, I condition longer, I study longer and I grind harder than the person next to me and I take solace knowing I have left everything on the mats every evening I wrap up practice.
I plan to wrestle at a collegiate level and eventually give back to the community by coaching other kids so they too, can reap the rewards and benefits this wonderful sport has given me...
Lastly, I am a believer in being a steward of the community and helping others. The armed forces are very near and dear to me and I am an active member and participant in the "All Secure Foundation" which is a non-profit started by a former Army Delta Special Forces operator. Their charter is to help veterans and their families through programs and workshops designed to overcome the ravages of PTSD.
I hope recruiting coaches will afford me the opportunity to wrestle for them and prove my self worth to the college/institution I will represent. Thank you!
