Personal Statement

~~My name is Zain Ali, I am a CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) Champion and this is a little about who I am:
I work hard and dedicate my time to academics and to wrestling. I am always learning because there is always room for improvement. The only way to get better is to continue to refine and improve yourself. I am committed to being the best that I can be. It is only through hard work and dedication that one can achieve success and accomplishment. I strive to do things the right way and to work to the best of all my abilities.  I work very hard on wrestling and never gave up, though I have been wrestling for only a short time, and many people say that I am gifted and talented, I repeat my favorite quote to myself as a affirmation “Hard-work beats talent when talent does not work hard". I was not winning in the beginning but I toiled away day in and day out, I practiced when I got home and rose early to work out and spent my weekends at extra tournament and camps while my classmates partied. This year it all came together, I was the Co Team Captain for nearly 100 wrestlers. My accomplishments may have surprised many but no me, because of my work ethic and consistency; I won Gold at the CIF Southern Section Central Division. There were nearly 583 schools represented in southern California. I placed in the top 8 at the Masters Tournament and qualified to go to the State Finals.  I was the only male wrestler in the entire city of Long Beach that made it to the State Championships. I placed in the top ten, and won 2 matches, 1 by a pin and 2 losses. There is approximately 40 million people who call California their home so the even wining a match at the state level is a great accomplishment, but I am not satisfied as I am seeking the right environment. One that will give the right coaching, training and skills needed to compete at a national and international level.  I seek excellence.
I would like to major in pre-law, political science or business so that I may pursue a law degree and later practice law. Thank you for your time and consideration.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
