Hello, my name is Tyson Upchurch. I live in Cumming, Georgia and I go to Forsyth Central High School. My goal is to wrestle in college and make a positive impact on my team. During my freshman year of high school, I wrestled varsity 106 weighing less than 90lbs and won three matches. The next season, I was less than 100 lbs and finished with a 17-23 record, wrestling both 106 and 113. This past year I was finally at weight for 106, wrestling at 113 when the team needed me. I showed that when weights are similar, I can compete with the best of them. In my Junior year I compiled a 37-10 record, was a Region Finalist, placed 3rd at sectionals, and was a State Qualifier. At the end of the season, I was named second team All-County. As a teammate, I get along with others, and I take criticism very well. I spend time in practice helping my peers and I am in the corner of everyone on my team. I am a hard worker and determined to achieve my goals. On the mat I never give up. I could be down by any margin and I keep my head up and try to win the match. My determination and commitment will be an asset to any team. I continue to grow, learn, and get stronger, so my potential to improve at the next level is great.
