Personal Statement

I'm Declan Hernandez-Newsome, a class of 2025 heavyweight Varsity wrestler. My whole life changed when I left Southern California and moved to naples Italy during my freshman year. I decided to make the best of it and have persevered through many hardships. I am a multisport athlete, having also done football, distance running track and throwing. My goal is to win, in every way possible, and I won't stop until I achieve that goal. I'm a hard worker, I'm in the gym every day before school. Furthermore, I have a strong mental focus that allows me to preform at my best during matches and not be overcome by anxiety. I stand out from my peers in not only a much faster and more nimble wrestling style, but in my commitment to this sport and both mine and my teams athletic success. I look forward to hearing from you and am excited to be on this journey.
