Declan Newsome '25 Recruiting Profile

I'm Declan Hernandez-Newsome, class of 2025, Captain of the Varsity Wrestling Team. My whole life changed in 2021 when I left Southern California and moved to Naples, Italy during my freshman year. I decided to make the best of it and have persevered through many hardships. I am a multisport athlete, having competed in football, long distance running in track and field and throwing. My goal is to win, in every way possible, and I won't stop until I achieve that goal, as is evident in my second place win at the European Nationals in 2023. I am a hard worker, who can balance academics, daily dedication to the gym, sports, as well as obtaining my Eagle Scout. Furthermore, I have a strong mental focus that allows me to preform at my best during matches and not be overcome by anxiety. I stand out from my peers in not only my faster and more nimble wrestling style, but also in my commitment to this sport and both mine and my team's athletic success.
