Personal Statement
I have been competing in combat sports since eight years old and I have always had a competitive and determined mindset with the focus on performing at my best. I enjoy utilising my strength both physically and mentally when facing the opposition in a match. My mentality is to be the hard working person in the room - whether that is in the classroom or the "mat". I have been training six days a week for more than two years in free style wrestling whilst continuing with daily strength and conditioning sessions. I fell in love with the wrestling sport and can only take my passion further if I apply to a American college as there is little opportunity in England. To pursuit my goal and career in wrestling this is what I am now determined to do as I want to train with the best coaches and college. I am willing to study hard equally in my education classes and recognise this is as important as the sports side. During my time in an English college - I successfully completed my Business Diploma with Merit whilst always playing Academy college rugby at a high level so have experience and skills in managing and prioritising the two activities.
I am applying to American colleges as an international student as I am fully committed and ambitious to continue to build my career and become a professional sportsman.
With my considerable skills, achievements and experience in Rugby at Academy and County level, my agility allows me to demonstrate a very fast double and single legs and quick level changes. I am heavy on top and very good in scrambles. I like to wear on opponents and can give them a break due to my great and relentless cardio. I understand the importance of being part of a team and pushing them as well as myself so we achieve our goal and purpose. I have qualifications in team building exercises and endurance and how to operate within a high performing team. I fully recognise that it will be key for me to study hard in the classroom and achieve the grades needed for me to progress to the next level in my sporting career.
I have played rugby at a very senior level since the age of eight years old and my focus in now on wrestling. I enjoy coaching and mentoring younger players to help build their confidence, motivation and mindset. As a sportsman, I believe it is important to give back and help others. I have volunteered both in junior schools and rugby clubs as it is important to share what others have given you to be a better person.
