I started training at my local wrestling club when I was seven. Little did I know that this experience would shape me into who I am today. Wrestling has taught me to be resilient, and that hard work pays off. It has also taught me the importance of perseverance, dedication, and of learning from my mistakes, and how to make decisions on my feet.
As a Junior in high school, these lessons translate directly to my attitude about life. At any given moment, I strive to give my best effort, both on and off the mat. This has allowed me to become captain of my wrestling team, going 30 - 3 on the season (so far), and to excel academically, maintaining a 4.3 GPA while taking mostly AP classes, in which I have consistently scored fives.
In short, wrestling has inspired me to be the best version of myself, both on the mat and off, whether it’s putting in extra hours at club practice and strength training, or studying. I hope to make it all the way to states and beyond and to continue my wrestling career at the collegiate level with a program that helps me grow both physically and academically.
