As a kid who grew up and worked on a farm and in a wrestling family dating back to my grandfather, I learned the value of hard work from a very young age. Additionally, I have been able to translate this value into my extracurricular, academic, and athletic life. From a very young age I have been a Boy Scout, and I am proud to say that I have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouting has taught me so much about how to be a responsible and respectable person in any situation. During my more recent years of scouting as one of the older scouts in my troop, I have been able to use my acquired skills to teach and lead the younger scouts, which helped me learn what it takes to be a leader.
Athletically, I have always been determined to better myself. One of the fruits of my labor is that I am a captain on my wrestling team. As a captain that is only in my junior year of high school, I have had a lot of responsibilities to take on at a younger age, including, scheduling team lifts and runs, communicating with the team and coaches, making sure everyone on the team is up to speed and ready for the upcoming season, and overall, being a good influence and example to others. Outside of wrestling, I played a key role on my high school's lacrosse team, taking face-offs for my team and going 60% on wins as a sophomore, which I believe is a skill that I have developed as a result of my wrestling background. I would not have had the ability to achieve all of this if it weren't for what I've done earlier in my life to gain the necessary skills I have today. As an individual who has experienced many challenges that have improved myself and made myself the way I am today, I am certain that I have what it takes to be a contributing member and most importantly, a leader on your team!
