Reece Chagman '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Reece Chagman and I wrestle for Elder High School.  Throughout my life I have always been fascinated and intrigued with sports, from playing almost every sport growing up.   I love the competition and working hard to be the best. Out of every single sport I have played, I have fallen in love with wrestling for a few different reasons.  I love the 1 on 1 competition during matches and practices. It is only your self determination, skills, and hard work to win against theirs.  Another reason I love wrestling is getting that pure adrenaline rush when you get your hand raised after winning a match. This feeling is unmatched, compared to other sports, because at that moment everything you gave brought you success.  But it is not only about me, wrestling is also about the brotherhood and bond you form with your teammates.  They are the inspiration and the reason we continue to grow and develop in this sport.  From practices, to duals, to tournaments, wins and losses,  your teammates are always right there encouraging you and making you a better athlete and person.  My record from junior year was 29-4 which I am very proud of myself considering that I started wrestling my freshman year of high school and the pandemic took a lot away during my sophomore year.

Not only do I work hard on the mats and in the gym, I strive to do good in school. I have a 3.4+GPA, with some AP and college courses. I plan to major in Psychology or Social work to become a Clinical Child Therapist to help children who struggle with mental health. I have a passion for helping others. I volunteer at a local food bank, serve at my church, and help coach soccer for little kids.

My Dad always said, "A busy kid is a good kid."  I want to continue being busy with my passion of wrestling at the college level, finding the right college to pursue my career, and become a valuable asset to my teammates and classmates. Thank you for your consideration.
