Hunter Dietrich 1...Personal Statement
I have grown up in a home that talks about, discusses, and tries daily to live a life of leadership. My brother and I had to learn at a young age words like character, trust, respect and being the best. We have a farm that has taught me responsibility and that hard work pays off. I wake up on my own each morning at 5:30-5:45a to feed animals. I believe in being the first to meetings, practices, macthes or tournaments, and the last to leave. I currently have a 3.5 GPA. My goal is to achieve this GPA or higher in high school and college.
I began wrestling in Kindergarten and immediately fell in love with the mental and physical challenges of the sport. I would ask my parents to record matches and then watch them many times over to see what I did well and what I needed to improve on. I even had a youth season that I do not remember winning a single match! My love of overcoming challenges and working at something until I see success is what drove me to continue. I was not always the best technical wrestler, so I had to learn to outwork and outpace my opponents. I have been able to separate myself with this mindset- I WILL OUTWORK YOU. I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend dozens of open tournaments each year and be able to attend additional training and club wrestling outside of the youth and school programs. I am working this year to become a 2 time state placer to round out my Junior year. I will be traveling to camps and tournaments in the offseason as I work to enter my Senior year and make a run at a state title.

- During this event we were put through rigorous morning beach workouts led by US Army Green Beret Chris Simms. I had the opportunity to listen to several speakers and learn what it means to be a leader on and off the football field. Valuable life lessons were learned.
