I want my statement to reflect all of who I am. I am a born and raised Graham Falcon. I stepped into my first pair of wrestling shoes when I was four years old. Wrestling has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I can't imagine my life without wrestling in it. My goal is to wrestle in college where I can study the medical field. I haven't decided if I want to be a doctor, or a veterinarian, but I know my interest will be in helping the world around me.
Although I have wrestled for many years, I have also been raised on a farm. I am an active 9 year member of 4-H. My years in 4-H have taught me so much about life. I have served as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Safety Officer. I started out showing lambs and eventually ended up showing steers. Showing steers is not the only part of farm life though. Among many other lessons learned on the farm, I have learned how to work as a family. Unity is very important on a farm. I love baling hay in the summer. Other things that I enjoy on the farm are four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and basically anything I can do outdoors.
As a wrestler and a farm kid, I have learned about what pain and suffering are and I have learned to embrace it. I have learned with hard work and dedication, I can accomplish anything and turn that pain into pride. I wrestled heavyweight last year because my coach asked me to. As a 15 year old sophomore I weighed 220 lbs. I was out-sized in most of my matches. In the beginning I only won about half of my matches. I kept working hard and found myself as a state alternate placing 5th at Districts. We did not get the chance to find out if I would advance to state due to Covid 19. I finished my season 26-16. Although I didn't end up where I wanted, I am proud of my growth last year. I am knocking on the door and hungry for next year to open it.
Covid 19 has taught me never to take things for granted. I never dreamed that state would be taken away from us. I cannot wait to lace up my shoes and hit the mat again. I look forward to that privilege.
