2019 HighlightsPersonal Statement
From an early age I've always wanted to go to college and wrestle. The biggest passion that I have in my life is wrestling. I love the fact that you are out there on that mat all alone, it comes down to you and your opponent. I love the whole process that embodies wrestling, from the countless hours in the gym to the long cold bus rides to the anxiousness you feel in the pit of your stomach just prior to the match to the feeling of exhilaration after a big win. There's no other sport like it!
I would like to take Biology, specifically Marine Biology as a major. I've always had a facination with sharks and would love to study them. I feel that I stand out from other recruits because I'm working torward my Eagle Scout Merit Badge. This has been a lot of hard work and I hope to earn the badge by November once my project is complete. I've been in scouting since I was 6, in the later years it hasn't been easy. Many kids pick on you for being a scout but that hasn't detered me from earning my Eagle, it's been a goal of mine since I was very little. I'm also a member of the Order of the Arrow, which is the Boy Scoutings National Honor Society. In order to get selected to be a member your fellow scouts have to vote you in as well as all of your adult leaders. It's an honor that I'm very proud of.
You'll find that I'm a tireless worker in the gym, classroom and in the community. I don't give up easily and will work hard right up to the final buzzer.

- I wrestled for Concrete Barbell, the gym I train at. Most of the wrestlers on the team were from the Northampton High School Wrestling Team. I was asked to share a spot at the #145 weight class with another wrestler. I wrestled twice on the first day of the tournament in the qualifying round against 2 state qualifiers, on the second day I wrestled once in the consolation round against a 2x's state placer. I went 1-2 with one major decision for the tournament. It was a great opportunity to wrestle against elite national competition.

- I went 1-2 in this tournament with one pin. Unfortunately I had contracted walking pneumonia 2 days prior to the tournament and was advised not to wrestle. I was eliminated by the 3rd and 5th place finishers. I really feel like I could have placed at this tournament but my health prevented me from wrestling at my best.

Training

- Comprehensive wrestling based weight training. Many of the perennial District, State and Regional Championship caliber teams from Pennsylvania State District 11 Class 3A wrestling community train here. We not only weight train but also hold open mats at various local high schools as well as participate in national tournaments throughout the year.
- Dark Knights Wrestling Club

- I've been training with Coach Whitey Clebove since I was a youth wrestler. After my Freshman season I started going to workouts at Dark Knights Wrestling Club as much as I could. The atomosphere there is unlike any other that I've gone to. There are numberous Division 3A State Champions and Nationally Ranked wrestlers working out there at all times. As a Division 2A wrestler, getting on the mat with that caliber of competition really helps step up my game.
