I credit my growth and confidence to the sport of wrestling. True wrestlers understand the dedication and hard work it takes to win on and off the mat, as I have gained over years of wrestling. I apply my knowledge and skills from wrestling to my everyday life building friendships, challenging myself with AP classes, and understanding others around me. As I once looked up to wrestlers before me on and off the mat, I realize that I too, am looked up to from younger wrestlers. I want the leadership skills I have to be what inspires and sets as the example for our team. I volunteer with our youth wrestling program each season because it is rewarding to me to have their support. To see their excitement when I win is important and when I don't, I know that I have to exhibit good sportsmanship and hold my head high. They need to understand that win or lose, character and sportsmanship is everything. My ultimate goal is to wrestle in college while obtaining my degree in education. To continue the passion I have for wrestling by coaching after college would be the greatest achievement.
