Personal Statement

My name is Taylor Britton i am 18 years old I attend school my senior year at Greeneville High we are a public school in one of 4 schools in the Greeneville area in Greeneville Tennessee. My goals for my future include being a police officer and going to a four year college for the sport that i love the most, wrestling. I have always been around wrestling my entire life it runs in my family from school wrestling to the kind you see on tv i do both, I have a huge problem with people who waste 4 years or more of wrestling and being good and just letting there tallents just fly away like they did it to get out of school. For me i wrestle because at times i have nothing more then to go out with my family i dont call them team because if you arent a family you wont progress anything together just individual. I wrestle because my mother, she has run out of my life went to jail numerous of times i have a brother and a sister that are both looking up to me because our mom isnt anything they would brag about, i feel if i go out with my "family" and i practice 3 hours a day then on wrestling day i go out and i absolutly rock the mat i feel like my brother and sister know they dont have to always look at our mom and feel jail is the way or look at my father and think drugs will solve every ache in the body. Wrestling to me isnt all about medals its more of pride i take pride in my wrestling if i feel like i didnt go out there and performn and bring my school a win or a match that could get us to win i feel honestly i let them down.Wrestling to me isnt all about the girls or the flashy suits we wear that day its to go out there and commit war and win at it and be good at it. My vision of what i see when im on the mat is simple when were in the practice room were family but when its game day or match day or even tournament i turn into someone noone wants to talk to i kick it in like when ur on the row of team mates you got them but when its our turn to step up and "fight" its only you in my eyes and everyone elses eyes when your wrestling you dont got coach to say your doing this wrong its you and the guy you got in front of you and the stuff coach taught you 3 hours the previous day. What excites me most about my sport is the adreniline rush it gives me a feeling as if im unstoppable but at the same time i mean something i can tell with the shake of the oponents hand if i will be going aggainst a real competitor or a pansy but every match i act like im going aggainst kurt angle back when he won 2 gold medals. The person or people that drives me to be the best wrestle i can be is my deceased grandfather who was like my dad and my coaches without all of them i wouldnt be here and for them i thank them every day.My plan for college is to go to some kind of lawschool to be a cop or lawyer etc. im highly interested in turning my hometown from a place my grandmother cant walk out of her house but into a place my mamaw can walk out and see nothing but respect just because the laws have changed.Getting into college with wrestling will change my life in a way of keeping me off the streets ive came along way since gatlinburg where i lived before i never had wrestling but 2 years of my highschool years and my 8th grade year which i placed 2nd overal in my conference. I in my eyes have improved due to wrestling with out that i would be dead somewhere no joke. Getting accepted into any kind of wrestling program i promise a attitude of determination and the will to succed as a team and individual if i were offered any kind of scholarship i promise a leader and a follower and respect to everyone around me.My goals for this year is to go to conference and win conference then win state to go on to nationals i want me and my team to be looked up to by the school and everyone in sight. Some other goals are going undefeated from now on from the end of season.
