Hugh Wheeler '24 Recruiting Profile

Wrestling has been my primary sport and my passion all my life. I have grown up in a wrestling family - both my parents wrestled in college, and my dad is my high school wrestling coach. I love the sport and plan to become a wrestling coach. I am the captain of my wrestling team and look forward to wrestling in college to be a part of an elite team and take my skills to the next level. I am ready and excited for the next challenge.

I have been a three-sport all-season athlete plus freestyle club up until my junior when I decided to dedicate full time to both collegiate and freestyle wrestling. That effort has really paid off because the gains I made in freestyle this year (including a Japanese wrestling exchange) will catapult my senior year. I came in 3rd in state last year, but feel confident in my trajectory of becoming a state champ this season and continuing beyond.
