Personal Statement

I have been wrestling since I was 5 years old, including USA. Throughout my academic career, I have been homeschooled and maintained a 3.6 GPA. In my junior year of high school, I started the Running Start program, which allowed me to take college courses for dual credit. This June I will graduate with my high school diploma, and my AA degree. Since starting my high school wrestling career I have been a 2x state participant, 2nd at Freestyle and Greco state, 2nd at Tri-State, Fargo Nationals participant, and placed 3rd this year at the Mat Classic state tournament with a season record of 44-8. After barely missing the placement rounds last year, I buckled down and had a great off-season. I was determined to work harder than all of my opponents, and now understand what it takes to be a great wrestler. A month before the state tournament I hit a really bad plateau where I was burning out due to working towards the state tournament for the last ten months straight. After recognizing the burn-out, I doubled my efforts for the next 6 weeks. I started running 5 miles each morning before school, still maintained being the hardest worker in the room at practice after school, then got extra drilling in after practice, and started being more intentional in my prayer life. Not only did I experience the benefits of this extra work, but I also saw how it inspired my team. I stepped up and was a leader inside and outside the practice room, even picking up some of the underclassmen to go run with me in the morning. It was a big highlight for me this season to watch their hard work pay off this season too. This last year I personally experienced the benefit of putting in the extra work and outworking your opponents, teammates, and yourself. I have big goals to be an NCAA Champion and work up to a World and Olympic Champion. I will be on another Fargo run this year with the goal to achieve All-American. I have a taste of success and I'm hungry for more.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
